Delivering what matters

FOR MORE THAN 80 years, Aiken Electric Cooperative has brought its members the very best products and services—advances that make a difference in their daily lives. We’re excited to announce that the internet is the latest way we’re continuing that mission.

We’re partnering with fiber optic internet service provider CarolinaConnect to bring you affordable high-speed internet. Just like AEC, they’re local and share our dedication to exceptional service standards, so we know that you will be pleased with their offerings and your experiences with them.

We plan to begin offering service to rural areas in Wagener and Perry as early as this summer, then will work over multiple years to complete the remaining areas of our service territory on a substation-by-substation basis. A
more detailed schedule of the projected build-out is being developed, so be on the lookout for more information in future issues of South Carolina Living. In the meantime, you can visit to learn about the plans that will be offered or to join the list. This will alert you when service is available in your area.

While the internet is one of the newest ways we’re delivering our members what matters, it’s not the only way. On Page 5, you’ll see that the deadlines are approaching for our youth opportunities. High school seniors can apply for our Touchstone Energy and Trustee Scholarships until February 28. High school juniors can sign up to attend the Virtual Youth Experience, where our community’s brightest young people gather to learn about co-ops, leadership and our state and national government.

We also bring you programs such as H2O Select PLUS2 to help you save on utility costs. By delivering South Carolina Living to your mailboxes each month, we can keep you well informed and educated about important co-op news such as ways we protect your personal data from potential scams.

Over the last decade, we’ve brought our community programs such as RUN UNITED to raise funds for United Way of Aiken County to be used to feed hungry families, help those in need to keep the lights on and so much more. But we couldn’t do any of this without you, our members. So we hope that you will join us on October 9 for this annual event!

As you know, our mission is to empower our communities through the programs and services that we provide. However, in the same manner, you empower Aiken Electric through your membership and your participation in these programs. By working together and your continued support, I’m certain that we will continue to deliver what matters most to our communities for many years to come.
