EVERYONE AT AIKEN ELECTRIC Cooperative is committed to building even stronger connections with you and the local communities we serve. We know when we helped to bring electricity to rural South Carolina many years ago, the quality of life improved for all. Through the years, other issues needed to be tackled, and we have been at the forefront of helping to address some of those issues. We want to help meet the long-term needs
of our community to ensure it continues to thrive—because just like you, we live here too.

The philanthropic spirit of our co-op members, employees and volunteers shone brightly at the 2022 RUN UNITED event April 30. After a two-year break due to the pandemic, our annual RUN UNITED returned with the same high energy as before. During the hiatus, that energy was matched with generous donations for the United Way of Aiken County. The 2022 RUN UNITED race event was the most successful to date.

We have a chance to continue the momentum. I invite you to attend the upcoming Busting Clays event on July 23 at Palmetto Shooting Complex in Edgefield. This clay shooting tournament, benefiting the United Way of Edgefield County, will be a full day of clay shooting, games and prizes, all for a good cause. This event also returns after a pandemic break, and we are counting on your support to make it a success.

The money we raise from these charitable events stays right here and benefits our local economy. We are investing in the infrastructure of our co-op and community to ensure the long-term viability of both. When the co-op thrives, our community thrives.

We recognize that we cannot pursue this passion alone. We rely on dedicated and passionate representatives to make informed decisions that impact our communities. Some people see local elections as less important than national elections. In reality, state and local elections have an even greater impact on our communities because the candidates are running on local issues that are closer to voters’ everyday lives. Exercise your right to vote during the primary election on June 14 and consider those who have supported and continue to support AEC.

We now have the opportunity to honor those who are making a difference. The #WhoPowersYou contest celebrates AEC members who go above and beyond to help others. Nominate someone, and they could win up to $2,500 to support their cause! This is your chance to celebrate the people who are elevating our co-op community.

While our top priority is to provide safe, reliable and affordable energy, equally important is our mission to enrich the lives of the members (that’s you!) that we serve. Concern for community is the heart and soul of who we are. And no matter what the future brings, you can count on AEC to care about you.
