Washington Youth Tour Requirements

Aiken Electric Cooperative sponsors up to six high school juniors on an all-expenses-paid trip to our nation's capital. This week-long tour gives students a chance to see our government in action, experience the history of our nation and learn more about electric cooperatives. The primary residence of the applicant must have an active account with Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Washington Youth Tour - Teachers

Two South Carolina high school teachers or guidance counselors will be chosen to serve as chaperones on the 2013 Washington Youth Tour.The state association pays each teacher-chaperone’s costs for transportation, hotel room, exhibit admissions and three meals a day.


Tour Dates: June 15 - 20, 2013. Application Closed. Please check in October for 2014 application.


 

Scholarships:

 

Touchstone Energy Scholarships:

Two Touchstone Energy Scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to 2012-2013 high school graduating seniors in the cooperative service area. One scholarship will be awarded for a 4-year college and the second will be awarded for a 2-year technical school.  The primary residence of the applicant must have an active account with Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Application Deadline: Application Closed.

Trustee Scholarship:

The Trustee Scholarship will be awarded to a 2012-2013 high school graduating senior in the cooperative service area. To be considered for this $1,000 scholarship, the student must complete this application and submit in 150 – 200 words, an explanation as to why the scholarship is needed. The primary residence of the applicant must have an active account with Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc.

WIRE Scholarship: 

The WIRE Opportunity Scholarship is awarded to a woman who may not have been able to attend college when she graduated from high school, but now wants to further her education. A $2,500 one-time scholarship will be presented to an electric cooperative member in South Carolina based on the applicant’s information. Application
