Salkehatichie revs up with Operation RoundUp [Edgefield, SC, April 28, 2009] Aiken Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up program donated $2,500 to support the efforts of Salkehatchie. The Salkehatchie Summer Service program began over 30 years ago in South Carolina to provide structural renovation for families in need. Operation RoundUp is a program where Aiken Electric Cooperative members can make contributions each month to a charitable fund by rounding up their electric bills and donating the difference. “We’re thrilled to support such an energetic project,” says James Painter, RoundUp Board Vice Chairman. “We’re gearing up for another summer with five homes,” says Anna Timmerman, Salkehatchie organizer. “This year we have seen a great need in our community and we appreciate the support Aiken Electric and Operation RoundUp have provided over the years,” adds Timmerman. Donations of $750 were also made by Aiken Electric Cooperative and their WIRE (Women Involved in Rural Electrification) organization. Aiken Electric’s Operation Round Up program is funded by the membership. To contribute to your community’s needs through Operation Round Up, call Aiken Electric Cooperative, 803-649-6245.
