Aiken Electric Cooperative celebrates high marks from member survey

For the second year in a row, Aiken Electric Cooperative has received an ACSI customer satisfaction score of 90 on a 100-point scale. From a member survey conducted in November 2008, Aiken Electric’s ACSI (American Customer Satisfaction Index) score of 90 is a repeat performance from 2007 and among the highest in the nation. The current national score for Touchstone Energy cooperatives is 79 and the industry average is 73.

Of survey respondents, 98 percent agreed that Aiken Electric Cooperative provides reliable service, is a name they can trust and is committed to the communities it serves. Ninety four percent agree that Aiken Electric provides a good value for the money. In a recent Touchstone Energy/CEO award ceremony, CEO Gary Stooksbury commended the Aiken Electric Cooperative workforce for achieving the high score of 90 for 2008. “This ACSI score is a testament to the way we consistently treat our members,” said Stooksbury. “It requires competency and courtesy from each employee at every level to achieve a very high customer satisfaction score. As Edgefield crew chief Gene Forrest has said to many of our members, ‘we treat people the way they wish to be treated,’” added Stooksbury.

The ACSI is a uniform and independent measure of household consumption experience. As an economic indicator, the ACSI tracks trends on customer satisfaction and provides benchmarking insights of the consumer economy for more than 200 companies nationwide including utilities, hotels, wireless telephones, cable TV companies and airlines.

Aiken Electric Cooperative, a Touchstone Energy co-op, is a customer-owned, nonprofit electric utility serving more than 44,000 customers in Aiken, Barnwell, Calhoun, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick, Orangeburg and Saluda counties.
